"My practice was an early adopter of the GoCheck vision screen and it has been invaluable. I was skeptical about the hearing screener- audiograms take so much time, slow down the MAs [medical assistants], and we have fairly easy access to audiograms with a nearby ENT [ear, nose and throat specialist].
Yet I've been pleased with it. The reimbursement is good, between $16-40 per screen. Most insurance companies are paying for it. I haven't had complaints from parents about the charge so far when it gets passed to them. The screening device is very quick- it literally takes the MA 1-5 minutes, according to how skilled the MA and compliant the kid is with following directions. It's most often 1-2 minutes. We're testing 4 year olds, 11 year olds, and 17-18 year olds. I've tried it on a few younger kids (age 3) who had tubes and haven't been back to the ENT- they were able to do the test easily."
