- Dr. Huang is a co-inventor of optical coherence tomography (OCT), which is a commonly used ophthalmic imaging technology at 40 million procedures per year. His seminal article on OCT, published in Science in 1991, has been cited more than 18,000 times. He has been the principal investigator of 6 National Institutes of Health research grants in the over two decades. Honored with the prestigious National Medal of Technology and Innovation by President Biden, Huang's contributions have profoundly impacted vision health outcomes worldwide.
